Bristol City fans really aren’t keen on the idea of selling Adam Webster to Newcastle United.
But Bristol City supporters feel that Webster is worth far more than that fee, and have suggested that they should not consider any offers from Newcastle or any other sides.
Be ludicrous if #BristolCity were to let Adam Webster go for £12m. Especially as they just sold Lloyd Kelly for a reported fee upwards of £13m. Be a much higher price tag than that for any interested parties for the centre-back.— Gregor MacGregor (@GeeMacGee) June 17, 2019
If one of the mega rich, Sky Sports funded Premier League clubs sends us an offer as insulting and derisory as that, then they need banning from signing players for at least eight transfer windows.— james (@jbcfc_) June 17, 2019
We need to keep brownhill and Webster at all costs! The core of our team— wints (@ryanwinter12) June 17, 2019
Be ludicrous of us to let such a key and significant player in our push for promotion next season go. Disrespectful as well... £12 million pounds he worth double that— Aidan Chester (@AidanChester) June 18, 2019
25 million. Even then that would be stupid. Absolutely no need for it. Just when City get a half decent defence it gets taken away? Nope. Not buying that.— George Banks? (@GT3NB) June 17, 2019
Shouldn’t be selling at all, years left on his contract. Ball is in our court, you can’t get a replacement for pennies so why cash in for pence?— Harry (@harrymrmn) June 17, 2019
@JonLansdown cannot be serious about going forward if we sell Webster our best player by a country mile— teeth (@ashtonciders) June 16, 2019
Webster won Bristol City’s Player of the Season award last term, and is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the Championship.
The 24-year-old is very comfortable in possession and has been a rock in the heart of the Robins’ defence.
If Webster was to move to Newcastle he would have plenty of competition for a place though.
Rafael Benitez’s side already have the likes of Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez and Florian Lejeune competing for a place in their starting line-up.
