Neil Mellor has revealed that Rhian Brewster is the Liverpool talent that he's most excited about seeing break through.
The 19-year-old could be set for a breakthrough season under Jurgen Klopp after spending the entire 2018-19 season out injured.
According to The Liverpool Echo, the Liverpool boss will put his faith in Brewster next season rather than sign an established hitman to replace Daniel Sturridge.
The teenager hasn't even made his debut for the Reds, but former Anfield prospect Mellor is very excited about him nonetheless.
He told American Gambler: "Brewster has a big future if he can listen to Jurgen and the coaches at Liverpool, and the senior players there.
"Brewster is the one who really excites me because he can score goals, has the right attitude and listens to the coaching staff and Jurgen."
Is it a risk to put too much faith in Brewster? In a word, yes.
Klopp might have Divock Origi, who has greatly enhanced his reputation after scoring in semi-final and final of the Champions League in recent months, but is he consistent enough to challenge Roberto Firmino?
There is a question mark over the Belgian, irrespective of his heroics against Barcelona and Spurs, and if there's question marks over him, there's definitely some over a player yet to make a senior appearance for the Liverpool.
Brewster might be outstanding, but for now he's a teenager who has never played against men, and one who spent more than a year out injured.
