Aston Villa are reportedly keen on the services of Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu, who worked under Antonio Conte during his time at the London club.

Antonio Conte was only in England for a brief time, but during his time at Chelsea, he made himself heard and known as one of his former players could be heading to Aston Villa this summer.

The Guardian have claimed that Chelsea's 18-year-old defender Ethan Ampadu is of interest to the Midlands outfit, who are looking for a potential loan deal.

When Conte was at Stamford Bridge, he did give Amapdu game time in the first-team as they lifted the Premier League trophy under his stewardship before crashing down the following season.

During the early part of 2018, Conte admitted to being stunned by Ampadu's ability as he made reference to the then 17-years-old's physique and tactical awareness.

"He deserves to play," said Conte in 2018, as quoted by ESPN. "To play with the right concentration. To be ready physically and tactically. To play at this level.

"This [physical and tactical quality] is unusual for a player who is only 17 years old. But that shows, at the same time, that age is not important. The most important thing is that you show, when I give you the chance to play, you repay me with a good performance. We are talking about a really good prospect for Chelsea, for the present and the future."

This bodes very well for Villa because the former Exeter man has taken his game even further. He is now a regular Wales international and he is proving that he is a star in the making.

Not only that, the Welshman is playing a variety of roles, from playing at the back to be deployed in front of the defence. Plus he is very capable of bringing the ball out from the back - qualities that would suit Villa down to the ground.

Dean Smith is beginning to build up his squad for their Premier League return and there have been a number of high-quality players touted to make a move to the club.
