Celtic are reportedly weighing up a move to re-sign Adam Matthews.

According to The Scottish Mail on Sunday (back page, 16/06), Celtic are considering a move to bring defender Adam Matthews back to Parkhead.
Matthews, 27, has just been released by Sunderland, bringing an end to four injury-hit and ultimately disappointing years with the Black Cats.
The Welsh international must now go and find a new club, and it just so happens that former club Celtic are absolutely desperate for a right back or two.
It’s believed that, with Sheffield United’s George Baldock unavailable, Celtic will now weigh up a move to sign Matthews on a free transfer, with Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson another option.
Matthews’ cause is aided by Neil Lennon, as the man who signed Matthews for Celtic in the first place is now back in charge at Parkhead, making a reunion all the more likely.
After a dismal spell with Sunderland, fans would be forgiven for feeling that Matthews isn’t the calibre of signing Celtic need anymore, with some supporters already urging the club not to make a move.

However, if Matthews comes in as a replacement for Christian Gamboa, then a move may make sense. Spending precious money on a backup right back may not be the best use of funds, and getting Matthews back in – under a manager he knows well – would bring depth to a problem position for Celtic.
If he’s a replacement for Mikael Lustig, then Celtic really should be looking higher. As a backup right back on a free transfer, there may not be many better suited than Matthews.
