Everton are interested in signing Santiago Arias from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to The Liverpool Echo.

It has been reported that Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands is a fan of the 27-year-old right-back and has a close relationship with the Colombia international.

The report has claimed that Brands wanted to sign the defender for the Toffees in the summer of 2018, having brought him to Dutch club PSV back in 2013.

Good signing for Everton?

Arias joined Atletico from PSV in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Liverpool Echo to be worth £11 million.

The Colombia international struggled to play to the best of his ability at the Spanish club, but there is no doubt that the right-back has quality and will be a good signing for Everton.

According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old right-back made 20 starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga for Atletico this past season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
