The Celtic midfielder is being linked with a move to Leicester City.
Chris Sutton has told The Record that he’d be ‘stunned’ if Celtic sold Callum McGregor to Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.
According to The Express, the Leicester boss wants to sign the Celtic star this summer.
Rodgers took McGregor and a number of Hoops players to the next level during his reign in Glasgow, which ended sensationally in February.
And Sutton claims that it would be ‘some cheek’ from the Northern Irishman if he poached one of the Bhoys’ best players.
“There’s been talk about Brendan Rodgers taking McGregor to Leicester City but I would be stunned if that happened,” he told The Record.
“Not only would it be some cheek from Rodgers after the way he left the club but it would also be a major decision for Celtic to sell such an important player.”
Could it happen?
Well, McGregor, who has just won the treble Treble at Parkhead, might want to challenge himself and therefore a spell in the Premier League might appeal to him.
He turned 26 yesterday and now is the time to leave for England if he does have aspirations of making a name for himself outside of Scotland.
Thing is, he probably is good enough for the Premier League too, and that will only enhance his desire to mix it with England’s elite.
