Wolves fans on Twitter have hit back at Mick McCarthy after he stated that Everton's Seamus Coleman is a better right-back than Matt Doherty.

The former Wolves boss was making reference to why Everton's Coleman has been starting ahead of Doherty for the Republic of Ireland, as reported by the42.

The Irish recently participated in their Euro 2020 qualifiers - recording a draw at Denmark & then beating Gibraltar, with Coleman starting both encounters.

But McCarthy's decision behind not selecting the Wolves man hasn't sat well with the Molineux faithful, who believe the Yorkshireman hasn't changed his ways.

Last season, Doherty produced an outstanding display as a right wing-back for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, with Coleman playing as a natural right-back for Everton and getting better as the season progressed.

The Midlands outfit finished in a European spot - one place ahead of the Toffees, who will be looking to make their mark when the new season kicks off in August.
