Pochettino famously suggested that Edwards could become Tottenham's Messi, when the attacker was just 16.
Since, Edwards’ career has stalled - and it has only been on a loan spell with Excelsior where the forward has started to show his potential again.
But the Tottenham man insists that he is still pleased that Pochettino made them.
“It was just nice to know that the manager thought I was a good player,” he said.
“I just feel like he was very welcoming, he made you feel part of the team.”
Whether Edwards has any chance of making a success of his time at Tottenham again now remains to be seen.
Edwards has not played for Spurs’ first-team 2016, but Pochettino will surely have been impressed by what he saw from the England youth international in Holland.
Edwards may now face the most important pre-season of his career, as if he can impress for Spurs in friendly matches, he may just convince Pochettino that he still has what it takes to make it at White Hart Lane.
