Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has given his honest opinion on Aston Villa, their first opponents of the 2019-20 Premier League season, as well as their talismanic captain Jack Grealish, in conversation with the official Lilywhites website.

On Thursday, the Premier League fixture reveal saw Spurs handed their first home fixture on the opening weekend since 2010-11, with the following eight seasons in a row all having begun on the road.

Dean Smith's charges will be heading to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a game currently scheduled at 5:30pm on Saturday 10 August, though all fixtures remain open to change depending on television picks.

Villa are back in the top flight following a superb run of form starting in March this year - with Grealish arguably the main catalyst following his return from injury - which culminated in them sealing a top-six spot in the Championship, before seeing off West Bromwich Albion and Derby County in the playoffs.

“It’s going to be an exciting game to kick-off the campaign against a newly-promoted side, especially with this being our first full season in the new stadium,” Winks told the official Tottenham website. “Villa are a big club and are going to want to kick-off their season positively after just being promoted back to the Premier League. We’ll be ready for that."

On the subject of Grealish, the three-times capped England international (Transfermarkt) added: "I’ve played with Jack for England and he is a good friend of mine. He’s a very good player and someone who can win a game on his own so we’ll have to be wary of that. As I said, we’ll give Villa full respect."

The West Midlands club were last in the Premier League in the 2015-16 season, with Tottenham beating them 3-1 at home and 2-0 at Villa Park.
