If West Ham United do make a move to sign Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona this summer it would be absolutely baffling.

Sport in Spain claims that West Ham are eying up the Barca stopper, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side look to make improvements.

But it is now hard to see the worth in West Ham bringing in another goalkeeper.

The Hammers already have Lukasz Fabianski in net, and the Polish international is one of the most reliable number ones in the Premier League.

West Ham have also already snapped up two shot stoppers this summer, in the form of David Martin and Roberto.

As a result the Hammers look well stocked in goal, and although Cillessen would be an upgrade on Martin and Roberto, he wouldn’t be a necessary signing.

West Ham do not have an unlimited budget, and getting Cillessen would not be cheap.

Therefore the Hammers are far better off focusing their attention on strengthening other areas of their squad and letting another side take Cillessen off Barca’s hands.
