Tottenham are trying to sign Tanguy Ndombele.
Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of signing Tanguy Ndombele are in the balance.
French outlet Foot01 report Ndombele could choose to stay put at Lyon.
This is because his top priority is to star for France's first team at Euro 2020, and he is placing this above his club ambitions.
This could lead to him deferring his decision for a year, if he is not convinced.
Fortunately for Tottenham they have a strong case, with Moussa Sissoko and Hugo Lloris both stars for Les Bleus.
However both players took their time to settle, and there will be a period of adjustment to English football.
Sissoko even struggled in his first two years under Pochettino despite his experience at Newcastle, and he missed out on the World Cup as a result, having joined the club as a starter at international level.
Ndombele is now a starter for France, and it's understandable if he does not want to upset that.
Staying at Lyon is the safest option. Tottenham will have to persuade him what happens between now and Euro 2020 means a great deal too, starting with another shot at the Champions League.
