It took a while but Everton have finally confirmed their pre-season fixtures ahead of the start of the 2019-20 campaign, with five currently scheduled and more set to be announced.

The Toffees begin with a trip to Kenya to face Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Trophy in Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, the game kicking off at 4pm local time (2pm BST) on Sunday 7 July.

After that, Marco Silva and his contingent will head to Switzerland for a training camp, with games against FC Sion (Sunday 14 July) and AS Monaco (Friday 19 July) taking place in the municipality of Bagnes.

Everton have just the one friendly in the UK, a trip to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic in a 7:45pm BST kickoff on Wednesday 24 July, and the week before the Premier League starts, they will face Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion on Saturday 3 August, 2pm BST kickoff.

The friendly against the Bundesliga side in particular has prompted reaction from some Everton fans, who could see ex-Toffee Davy Klaassen line up against his former team.

Klaassen failed to make an impact at Goodison Park, joining in a £24million deal from Ajax in June 2017 (The Guardian) but making only 16 appearances, with just three Premier League starts to his name.

The Dutchman's career has picked up again at Bremen, with 38 appearances in all competitions last season (Transfermarkt), and on Twitter, some Toffees fans commented on the prospect of the two parties crossing paths again:

Everton will also be taking part in a European tournament over the weekend of 27-28 July, with final details to be confirmed.
