In the last 12 months, Greg Taylor has played 31 Premiership games, helped Kilmarnock qualify for Europe and made his international debut for the Scotland national team, all the while establishing himself as one of the country’s brightest young talents.
So no wonder Celtic and Rangers are competing to bring the 21-year-old to Glasgow.
According to the Daily Record, Killie are facing an almighty challenge as the interest rises in their highly-rated left-back, who appears to represent a substantial upgrade on the likes of Emilio Izaguirre or Jon Flanagan for either of the Old Firm duo.
But will the Ayrshire giants really sell for just £400,000?
The Daily Record reports that Taylor’s price tag is rising all the time and, in the eyes of Killie fans, a player with such impressive potential is worth far, far more in today’s madcap transfer market.
With Celtic paying £3 million for Motherwell’s David Turnbull (BBC), a 19-year-old who hasn’t yet played for his country at senior level, Taylor should surely be valued in the region of a seven-figure sum.
Celtic and Rangers might have to pay up or give up.
