Aston Villa have agreed a deal for Club Brugges striker Wesley Moraes, HLN report.
The Brazilian is set to sign for £22 million, a club record deal and the most expensive transfer out of the Belgian league.
Moraes netted 17 goals last season and had attracted interest from teams across Europe.
Villa's deal came out of nowhere, and will have left one or two sides stunned.
Moraes' move is subject to a work permit. The Telegraph report he is flying into Birmingham this weekend to put the finishing touches on a move.
Villa fans were left impress, excited, and quickly checking YouTube for videos of their new striker.
They also noted that it likely signals the end of their pursuit of Tammy Abraham, who fired the side to promotion.
Chelsea are expected to want to retain his services. Moraes is similarly capable of leading the line and this suggests Villa have decided to move on quickly.
Never heard of Wesley Moraes before but can't expect Smith allowing us to buy a striker for €20+ without any quality. That goes without saying, Arsenal & Newcastle wanted him too #AVFC— David (@ItsDaveeeee) June 13, 2019
I know nothing of Wesley Moraes. Is he going to be a Benteke or a Helenius? #avfc— Richie B AVFC (@Beno1917) June 13, 2019
Friendship ended with Jammy Abraham. Now Wesley is my best friend— . (@ffsallyy) June 13, 2019
No nothing about this Wesley dude but trust Smith and co to get it right , what a difference a year makes we were going out of business this time last year exciting times ahead #avfc— Alan Horan (@AlanH0101) June 13, 2019
Wow. Big statement from our owners signing Wesley Moraes. No surprises why we’ve signed him if what I have read about him is accurate. Big strong player for a team that are prolific crossers. #avfc— Andrew (@Tebroc1991) June 13, 2019
Guess the Wesley deal puts pay to any Tammy deal, but that was remote anyway wasn’t it? Who will be the supporting act? Surely not going to spend another £20m there or there abouts for Maupay. But surely need attack bolstering. Interesting times #avfc— Mr I (@ingram1964) June 13, 2019
