The Saints and Pompey have not faced off in over seven years but the rivalry remains well and truly alive.
The 20-year-old winger, a Mali international, will become a Saints player on Monday 1 July, subject to the relevant paperwork being completed.
As is becoming the norm nowadays, announcing player signings is no longer a simple matter of club statement and picture; nowadays it's a case of the more creative and elaborate, the better, what with the possibility of more people seeing it, discussing it and sharing it online - there might be even the chance of it featuring on a major media outlet.
Indeed, the club's announcement of Djenepo's arrival included a cartoon video clip - complete with superimposed Saints faces - of a train travelling from Southampton to Liege to pick up Djenepo and arrive back at St Mary's with fanfare and a welcome message.
And on the way to Liege, the "Ralph Express" crosses a bridge, under which there is a sinking ship - featuring the Portsmouth club badge.

Djenepo will join up with Saints for pre-season following the Africa Cup of Nations tournament this summer, the 20-year-old boasting eight caps for Mali (Daily Echo).
