Some Rangers fans aren't buying claims they were beaten to the signing of a rumoured Ibrox target.
Steven Gerrard's Rangers were one of the clubs linked with a move for Matty Willock after the midfielder became a free agent this week.
But it is in England with Gillingham that the former Manchester United player resurfaced on Thursday.
And according to the League One side's official website, Rangers are one of the 'many teams' they 'fended off'.
Rangers are already fairly well-stocked in Willock's position, with the loaned out trio of Greg Docherty, Jordan Rossiter and Jason Holt stretching Gerrard's options into double figures ahead of the new campaign.
And this is what's being said by those of a Gers persuasion on Twitter...
"Turning down Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, his [Matty Willock] career pathway was 'only blocked by Pogba and Lingard', says Steve Evans, of the highly rated ex St Johnstone and St Mirren star"
Gillingham FC taking the award for this week's greatest heap of pish with that

Willock's two brothers, Joe and Chris are also professional footballers, with Arsenal and Benfica, respectively.
The 22-year-old will link up with the former Rangers right-back, Lee Hodson, at Gillingham.
Hodson's Gers deal was due to expire this summer and his free transfer move went through earlier this week.
