Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign the Barcelona sensation this summer.
The Daily Record reports that the 16-year-old is out of contract at the Nou Camp this summer, and has been left unhappy with the three-year deal that is apparently on the table.
The report notes that Ansu's preference is to stay with the Catalan giants, but he is prepared to move with the forward keen to step up to Barcelona B from next season.
The Record suggests that Newcastle have made an approach, as have Manchester United, while Borussia Dortmund have already made an offer for the Guinea-Bissau-born teenager, who is expected to be granted a European Union passport before the end of next month.
Inspired move from Newcastle?
Ansu - who was born the day before a Laurent Robert equaliser helped Newcastle to a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in 2003 - scored 15 goals domestically this past season and found the back of the net four times in nine UEFA Youth League games.
His form coupled with Barcelona's contract offer suggests that he is destined for an incredibly bright future. Newcastle winning the race for his signature therefore, could prove to be a huge statement - and if the forward is thinking about the path towards first-team football, perhaps heading to St James' Park should be an option that he takes very seriously over the coming months.
