According to Antena2 in Colombia, Atletico Nacional defender Carlos Cuesta won't be joining Everton this summer – but could head to Ajax instead.
Cuesta, 20, has been captaining the Colombia side at the Under-20 World Cup in Poland this summer, helping them reach the quarter-finals before losing to Ukraine.
The defender has already featured for the Atletico Nacional first team, and having impressed at the Under-20 World Cup, he's attracting interest.
It's claimed back in his native Colombia that whilst talks with Ajax are expected soon, the chance of him heading to Everton has been ruled out.
The report notes that Everton may have been keen on Cuesta, but he won't be heading to Goodison Park, and a move to the Netherlands instead appears to be on the cards.
Everton are running into enough work permit problems with River Plate's Santiago Sosa without targeting another South American youngster who may struggle to meet the necessary quotas.
A move to Ajax may also make sense because of their work in the Colombian market in recent years. They signed Mateo Casierra and now-Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez in 2016, then added Luis Orejuela a year later.
Cuesta may now join them, and it will be fascinating to see whether Marcel Brands keeps the 6ft defender on the Everton radar in the coming years, even if a move isn't happening now.
