Report: Celtic could make an offer for Alaves striker Patrick Twumasi

Celtic fans show their support prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Hearts at Celtic Park on May 19, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Patrick Twumasi ripped Brendan Rodgers' Celtic apart in 2017 during the Champions League qualifying but he flopped in La Liga with Alaves.

Celtic could be about to make an offer for Deportivo Alaves forward Patrick Twumasi, according to Football Ghana.

A two-time Ghanaian international, the 25-year-old only made the switch to Spain in July but he looks set to be on the move again after failing to score in La Liga during a disappointing 2018/19 campaign.

Football Ghana reports that Copenhagen are interested in offering Twumasi a fresh start in Denmark after he struggled to settle on Spanish shores, though Celtic are also interested in signing the versatile forward.

And Twumasi has a history with Celtic.

Back in August 2017, he scored twice as Astana beat Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops 4-3 in a thrilling Champions League qualifier, running Celtic’s defence ragged in a display of speed, power and clinical finishing.

Fortunately, The Bhoys won the first leg 5-0 so Twumasi’s exceptional display counted for little in the end. Twumasi was certainly a huge hit at Astana though, scoring 53 goals for the club and winning four Kazakhstan league titles.

Could a move to Celtic help him rediscover that golden touch? Only time will tell.
