Rangers are hoping a deal can be struck to bring Ryan Kent back to Ibrox.
The club sent winger Glenn Middleton out on loan yesterday, reported The Record and his choice of club could end up helping the Kent move along.
Middleton signed for Doncaster Rovers, as part of the next step to take his Rangers career to the next level. The key here is who he will be replacing.
The Rangers youngster is set to replace Mallik Wilks, who had a successful loan spell at Doncaster last season.
Wilks scored 14 league goals and provided eight assists. He now heads back to Leeds United.
The 20-year-old could have a big role to play at Leeds next season. The Whites would be silly not to hand him a chance. Doncaster already moving for Middleton hints they have already given up on bringing Wilks back.
Leeds are Rangers' biggest rivals for Kent. The Yorkshire Evening Post report they are keen on a loan deal.
But Wilks likely staying put at Elland Road hints Kent may not be such a necessity after all, especially if the Leeds man can bring his League One form to the Championship.
Rangers should take encouragement that they are frontrunners to get a deal done.
