Glasgow Rangers fans react on Twitter as Greg Stewart unveiled by Ibrox club

Glasgow Rangers have brought Ibrox ex-youth player Greg Stewart back to the Scottish Premiership.

Glasgow Rangers have announced that Scottish forward Greg Stewart has joined the Ibrox outfit following his release by English Championship side Birmingham City (official website).

The 29-year-old, who spent last season on loan in Scotland, first at Kilmarnock and then Aberdeen, was a free agent after his deal at St Andrew's expired.

On Thursday afternoon, Rangers officially confirmed that Stewart has signed a two-year contract at Ibrox and will join up with Steven Gerrard's side for next season.

 

The attacker began his footballing journey with the Light Blues and then spent time in the Hearts academy, but his senior career saw him do three years at amateur side Syngenta (SPFL website).

Stewart made the jump to Cowdenbeath, where he made more than 100 appearances, before spells with Dundee and Birmingham, and he is Gerrard's fourth signing this summer, following Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Steven Davis.

Stewart will join up with his teammates for pre-season next week before heading out to Portugal for a training camp at the end of the month, with the looming Europa League qualifying campaign starting in mid-July.
