Liverpool have found out who they'll be playing in the first game of the 2019-20 Premier League season as the division's fixture reveal took place this morning.

Championship winners Norwich City will be first up for the Reds as Daniel Farke will take his Canaries to Anfield for a Friday night kickoff on 9 August.

The six-time European Cup champions have a great record against Norwich in recent years, having won 10 and drawn two of their last 12 competitive meetings (11v11).

 

Indeed, the last time Liverpool lost against the East Anglians was all the way back on 30 April 1994, Jeremy Goss scoring the winner for the visitors at Anfield (11v11).

In more recent times, one particular individual became known as a chief Canary-slayer, namely Uruguay's Luis Suarez, who scored 12 goals against Norwich, including three hat-tricks (ITV).

As the fixture list was unveiled, some Reds fans on Twitter joked about the prospect of bringing Suarez back to Anfield just for that one game:

Suarez is arguably one of the finest Reds strikers in recent history, having made 133 appearances for the Anfield side, scoring 82 goals and registering 47 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

However, his relationship with the Liverpool fanbase was strained during the Champions League semi-final tie with his Barcelona side, in which he celebrated his first-leg goal against the Reds passionately, before being involved in a clash with Andy Robertson in the second leg (The Mirror).
