Leeds should take a second look at Ezequiel Ponce.

Last November Leeds United were reported to be scouting Argentine strike prospect Ezequiel Ponce, ClubCall reported.

After he delivered everything he was expected to and more in 2019/20, the Whites should put him high on their list of priorities.

Ponce is contracted to Roma, although he is not in their first team plans. This past season he has been on loan at AEK Athens.

A year earlier he was signed by Marcelo Bielsa at Lille.

The former Newells striker was coming off a serious knee injury suffered at Roma.

Bielsa’s job at Lille came to an abrupt end, and Ponce’s season ended with just three goals. It made the market for him last  summer quite small.

This season in Greece he exploded back into life, scoring 21 goals for AEK.

It’s the type of form Bielsa hoped for when he signed him, and Leeds would have wanted to see when they scouted him.

Sometimes players can take a while to bounce back from serious injury, and moving to a new league as a young player only made it more difficult.

Now back full of confidence and in form, Leeds should take a second look at the promising 22-year-old.
