Tottenham’s opening offer for Tanguy Ndombele has been criticised.

Tottenham Hotspur have failed with their opening offer for Tanguy Ndombele.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio report Spurs’ offer of £40 million plus bonuses was flatly rejected by Lyon.

That isn’t a surprise, with Lyon looking for £70 million, report The Mail.

Juventus and Real Madrid are also keen, and Tottenham are at risk of missing out if they do not considerably up their offer.

Tottenham’s record spend is £42 million. They will need to break this to sign Ndombele.

In recent seasons they have missed out on players due to a reluctance to meet teams’ asking prices, with Jack Grealish last summer.

Whether Daniel Levy agrees with Lyon’s valuation or not, sometimes you just have to pay it to get the player.

Time wasted is an opportunity lost, and more time for other teams to get involved.
