The Gunners need a new back-up goalkeeper, with Petr Cech set to retire and David Ospina set to join Napoli on a permanent basis after an impressive loan spell with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of highly-rated shot-stoppers but it seems that, one year after signing Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, they are set to bring in one of Germany’s most exciting custodians.
At the age of just 20, Schubert has already established himself as Dresden’s number one and he made 32 appearances for the second tier outfit in 2018/19, keeping nine clean sheets.
Bild claimed back in May that the German U21 international had hired an agent who specialises in helping players seal moves to England while Dresden’s sporting director, Ralph Minge, confirmed to the same publication that the club had failed to tie Schubert down to a new contract.
His current deal expires in June and it seems as if he is on the verge of joining Arsenal for free.
