Celtic fans react on Twitter as Motherwell confirm agreed fee for David Turnbull

The Hoops have agreed a fee with the Scottish Premiership side for the highly rated 19-year-old midfielder.

Celtic have reached agreement with Motherwell for the transfer of midfielder David Turnbull for a fee that will "vastly exceed our previous record fee received", the Fir Park club have announced on their official website.

According to Sky Sports News, Well had already rejected offers of £2million from the Hoops, as well as from English Championship side Barnsley, for the highly rated 19-year-old, with the fee agreed believed to be £3million.

Turnbull, who is the Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year, will now discuss personal terms with the Scottish Premiership champions and treble Treble winners, with the fee understood to also include £250,000 in potential add-ons (Sky Sports News).

 

Last month, Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows said any potential suitors for Turnbull would have had to spend in excess of the club record £1.75million they received from the Parkhead side for Phil O'Donnell 25 years ago, as reported by the Daily Record.

The teenager made 34 appearances in all competitions for Well last season and scored an impressive 16 goals as well as notching up seven assists, according to Transfermarkt.
