West Ham United are reportedly losing hope of signing Stanislav Lobotka.

According to The Guardian, West Ham United are moving away from Celta Vigo's Stanislav Lobotka, feeling that he's more likely to head elsewhere.

The Hammers are desperate for a ball-playing midfielder to join Manuel Pellegrini's ranks, and a whole host of names from Andre Gomes to Joan Jordan have been touted.

Lobotka emerged as a target over the weekend, and it's claimed that West Ham held discussions with Celta about a double deal involving striker Maxi Gomez too.

However, whilst they'll continue to pursue Gomez, they're cooling their interest in Lobotka out of a belief that he's heading to join another club, with interest in Italy and Spain.

Lobotka, 24, has impressed with Celta since arriving from Nordsjaelland in 2017, earning comparisons to Luka Modric thanks to his diminutive stature and exceptional quality on the ball.

West Ham would seemingly have loved to bring him in, but they look set to miss out, and have wasted no time by teeing up a move to sign Villarreal ace Pablo Fornals instead.

Sky Sports claim that a £25million deal for Fornals is close, with both Pellegrini and Mario Husillos familiar with the 23-year-old from spells at Villarreal and Malaga.
