According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with the agents of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek and Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo.
Spurs are in the market for midfield reinforcements, and whilst Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele is a top target, Mauricio Pochettino and co are looking at various alternatives.
It's now claimed that talks with the agents of Van de Beek and Zaniolo about joining the club have been opened, with Tottenham moving for the duo.
Zaniolo, 19, enjoyed a superb first season with Roma having been included in the deal which saw Radja Nainggolan join Inter last summer, notching six goals and two assists.
The lanky playmaker now has his first caps for Italy, and looks set for stardom, with Spurs now in a position to offer Champions League football – which Roma can't.
Zaniolo is primarily a number 10 or right-sided winger, whereas Ajax ace Van de Beek is more of a central player, featuring either deep, centrally or as a 10.
Van de Beek hit 16 goals and 12 assists this past season, and represents a more well-rounded option than Zaniolo, who may have greater potential.
Both players are hugely exciting targets for Spurs, but signing both seems unlikely given the huge fees to sign them, and they may only become targets if Ndombele isn't signed or if Christian Eriksen leaves.
