AC Milan are eyeing a move for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, reports Gianluca di Marzio.

Lovren has emerged as a priority for Milan as the Rossoneri plot a path forward after deciding to sack Gennaro Gattuso.

Liverpool signed Lovren for £20 million from Southampton in 2014.

Milan are in need of big improvement, and it might be quite a good move for Lovren.

For Liverpool, this is also an opportunity to thank Lovren and move him on, if the price is right.

Lovren has had his up and downs at Anfield, and overall he has given the club good service.

He would leave with a Champions League medal, and his departure would not necessarily hurt the Reds too much.

The time is right for Liverpool to move on, with Lovren now fourth choice behind Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Liverpool would need to replace him, but they could do so by signing a young prospect as they look to the future.
