Ross County have rejected a bid from Rotherham United for midfielder Jamie Lindsay, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
The Millers, who are preparing for life back in League One next season following relegation last term, have identified Lindsay as one of their top targets as they look to build a side capable of winning promotion back to the Championship.
Lindsay enjoyed a fantastic season with Ross County last season, helping them win the Scottish Championship title to see them secure promotion back to Scotland's top flight.
Former Celtic youngster Lindsay was one of the stars in the Scottish Championship last season, scoring nine goals and providing four assists from midfield in 48 games in all competitions.
Ross County are reluctant to lose Lindsay as they prepare for life back in the Scottish Premiership and they have rejected Rotherham's opening offer for the all-action midfielder.
Rotherham are expected to come back with a new offer for Lindsay as Paul Warne is desperate to add him to his squad and Ross County face a battle to keep hold of the 23-year-old as he is entering the final year of his contract in Dingwall.
