West Ham United are said to be on the verge of completing a deal for Pablo Fornals.

Pablo Fornals’ reportedly impending arrival at West Ham United throws up question marks over the future of Manuel Lanzini.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham are closing in on signing Fornals from Villarreal, amid rumours that Lanzini could depart.

The Argentine has just a year left on his contract, and it seems that West Ham could be struggling to sort out his future.

The Daily Mirror have recently reported that Lanzini is wanted in Turkey by Fenerbahce.

And Fornals’ arrival at the London Stadium would surely plunge Lanzini’s future into further doubt.

Fornals looks like a natural replacement for Lanzini, with the pair possessing a similar skillset.

Both players are nimble and agile, but lack the physical qualities to offer much to a side defensively.

Lanzini’s departure would unquestionably be a blow for West Ham, but he is on a £70,000-a-week contract (Spotrac), and saving that money while bringing in Fornals may actually be some very smart business by the Hammers.
