Danny Boyle's latest film is being hailed as a joyous treat and its locations play a huge role in that.
As the release date approaches, let's take a look at the Yesterday locations which make Danny Boyle's latest film so special. The acclaimed filmmaker has delivered such great efforts as 127 Hours, Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later; a director whom never appears to let fans down.
Following on from the down-trodden despair of 2017's T2 Trainspotting, Boyle is changing things up and aiming to deliver the cinematic feel-good hit of the summer.
It looks like an absolute delight, but what's it all about?
Struggling musician Jack (Himesh Patel) wakes one day to find that he's the only person on the planet to remember The Beatles. That's right; arguably the most popular band of all time.
Of course, this leads to certain career advantages, and Jack decides to sculpt his legacy in their image, delivering his escalating fanbase hit after hit.
It's a really fun concept and a celebratory one which spotlights the eternal impact of pop music.
Where was it filmed?
Yesterday is largely set and filmed across Suffolk. According to the film's Wikipedia page, locations included Halesworth, Dunwich, Shingle Street, Latitude Festival, but also Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.
As reported by the BBC, a director of Film Suffolk - Julien Mery - is thrilled with the results of the film and what it will potentially do for the county. "It's a fantastic advert for Suffolk in itself and I would be surprised if it didn't lead to an increase in film-induced tourism," reveals Mery. "People see these wonderful locations on the big screen and then come to visit them for themselves."
The same source reports of a whopping 6,00 extras arriving at Gorleston beach to film a concert scene. So, when you watch the film, you can delight in the knowledge that the grandeur of the sequence was captured with utmost authenticity.
