Javi Gracia’s Watford have reportedly had an offer for Ismaila Sarr rejected by Rennes.

According to a report from France Football, Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais have rejected a bid from Watford for their star winger Ismaila Sarr.

The Senegalese international has had an incredible season which saw him score 13 goals and provide 11 assists in all competitions.

His performances have allegedly attracted a number of clubs including two from Spain who will be playing in European competitions next season.

Watford missed out on a place in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League after the humiliating defeat to Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup. The Hornets’ late slump in form cost them a chance to pip Wolves to seventh place but Javi Gracia should be proud of his side’s overall performances.

However, Watford will need to have a good summer window to compete with the other clubs for a spot in the Europa League places at the end of next season and signing Ismaila Sarr would be a huge statement of intent.

Sarr would be an attacker in Watford’s ranks and his pace and dribbling skills combined with that of Gerard Deulofeu’s would massively help the Hornets achieve their ambitions next year.

The biggest problem the Hornets will face in their pursuit of Sarr will be Rennes’ asking price. The French outfit are set to demand at least £31.1 million to part ways with their star attacker and, if Watford can somehow fork out the amount, they can be hopeful of a brilliant campaign in the Premier League next season.
