The Tottenham Hotspur star admitted that he could leave the club this summer.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham chiefs have been left baffled by Danny Rose’s recent comments that he could leave the club this summer because of his age.

The 28-year-old spoke to reporters whilst away on international duty, and left the door open to a possible summer exit from Spurs, as quoted by the Sun:

“I know my age and I know how the club’s run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on. It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on and I’ll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way I’m prepared for whatever happens.”

Rose has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham over the past two years, with Manchester United being mooted as a potential destination for the England international, according to a report from the Sun.

Rose will be 29 next month, and has two years remaining on his current deal with Spurs, so it would be no surprise to see him leave north London this summer.

According to the London Evening Standard, however, Tottenham bigwigs were surprised to see the Englishman’s comments regarding his age being a determining factor to his future, because they do not hold that kind of transfer policy.

Rose, who earns £60,000 per week at Spurs according to Spotrac, could still leave this summer, but according to the Standard, if he does, it will be nothing to do with this age.
