The rumours are inescapable, but is My Chemical Romance getting back together?
Is My Chemical Romance getting back together? This seems to be the question on everyone's minds recently, and it's sending fans into a bit of a frenzy. The band cultivated one of the most dedicated musical fanbases of the last twenty years, and when they split, many were left broken and devastated.
They formed in 2001 but it was their 2004 sophomore album - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge - that shot them into emo stardom. Their follow up, on the other hand, was a global phenomenon. 2006's The Black Parade attracted praise and controversy alike, broadening their audience yet still cementing their widespread cult fanbase.
However, their fourth and final album came in 2010 - Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - before they officially split in 2013.

How did the rumours begin?
As reported by NME, it was actually the Jonas Brothers' very own Joe Jonas who dished out the rumours during an interview with KISS FM.
“I’ve got some dirt,” said Jonas. “My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which - I thought they broke up, so…that’s the gossip!”
That's a pretty huge bombshell to drop out of the blue like that. So, do the claims have any weight?
Is it true?
The same source reveals frontman Gerard Way's thoughts about a potential return as expressed earlier this year: “I think if we ever did MCR again, we wouldn’t be in that machine any more. It would literally just be like: ‘Here’s a new piece of music, we’re putting this out and that’s it, this is not up for debate.’”
A reunion hasn't exactly been ruled out, but then again, the band haven't exactly commented on the rumours either. Let's hope they're simply wishing to maintain the mystery.

The fifteenth anniversary of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge is this year though; the record released on June 8th, 2004. So, now would be a great time to make a shock announcement.
Perhaps we could see them return to deliver the comeback fans have been desperate for before the year concludes. The MCR Army is staying optimistic.
As you'd expect, the band have been busy since. Gerard Way has been paving his way on the comic-book scene, holding down a solo-career, with Frank Iero - MCR's former rhythm guitarist - working with Frank Iero and the Future Violents etc.
Many have ruled out a reunion, but there are those who have never given up hope. This is one of the biggest signifiers of a return yet - let's hope that 2019 brings back My Chemical Romance. It's been way too long.
