Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 61), Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of signing Lee Cattermole from Sunderland may be scuppered by his wage demands.
The Owls are preparing for their first full season under Steve Bruce. They showed plenty of promise following his appointment, but could not quite force their way into the play-off picture during the final weeks of the campaign in the Championship.
After letting a number of players go at the start of the summer, Bruce has set his sights on Cattermole having signed the midfielder for the Black Cats a decade ago, as well as Wigan Athletic one year earlier.
The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 61) reports however, that the 31-year-old’s wages may dash Wednesday’s hopes of completing a move for the Sunderland ace.

Given Cattermole has been quite a divisive figure throughout his career, there are likely to be plenty of Owls fans who do not mind seeing their side miss out on the tough-tackling ex-England under-21 international.
He could certainly do a job at Hillsborough. But he is probably not a player that the large majority of Wednesday supporters will want to see Bruce break the bank for if he is working with a fairly modest budget this summer.
