West Ham United and Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Coventry City midfielder Tom Bayliss.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 59), West Ham and Aston Villa are battling it out in the race to sign Coventry City midfielder Tom Bayliss this summer.
The Hammers have been joined in the Premier League by the Villans as Dean Smith’s men produced an outstanding run during the second-half of the season to seal promotion in the play-off final.
And the Villans have wasted little time to start challenging some of their top flight rivals for potential transfer targets. The Sun on Sunday (9/6; page 59) reports that both clubs want the Sky Blues ace.
Bayliss scored three goals and contributed three assists in 38 appearances in League One this past season. The 20-year-old predominantly played in the middle of the park, but he can also feature on either wing or at either tip of a diamond.

He has made over 70 appearances for the first-team, which is not a bad return for such a young player. Nevertheless, it would be no surprise if both Smith and Manuel Pellegrini had one eye on the future with their pursuit of the Coventry starlet.
Both sets of supporters will be hoping to see their respective clubs make some marquee additions before the new season kicks off. But adding players such as Bayliss to their ranks could be smart moves as both Villa and the Irons look to build on the foundations that they both put down this past season.
