Martin Dubravka is an important player for Newcastle United.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has told The Northern Echo that he does not plan to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from the Magpies this summer, with his agent Pavel Zika telling Ruik back in March 2019 that a number of clubs in the Premier League and Italian giants Juventus want to sign him (click here to read more).

Dubravka told The Northern Echo: “I’m happy. I’ve had one-and-a-half years here. When I came here, I was a new player (to the Premier League), and now I’ve played the whole season.

“At first, I did not expect that I would be in goal every game. I was waiting for my chance, which came against Manchester United after one week. It was a great debut, and since then, I feel that the time has flown.”

Newcastle United stay

Dubravka is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and is a key figure in the Newcastle team.

The Slovakia international joined the Magpies on loan Sparta Prague in January 2018, and the move was made permanent in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Chronicle to be worth £4 million.

The goalkeeper has made mistakes at times, but he has also made a number of important saves for the Magpies and has been important in Newcastle not getting relegated to the Championship for the past two seasons.
