Aston Villa are said to be interested in snapping up Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo.

Defensor Sporting Club chief Ney Castillo has told the Tiempo de Fútbol on Sport 890, broadcast 6th June, that Aston Villa want to sign Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo.
Gomez used to play for Defensor in Uruguay and appears to have been back in contact with his old club, informing them that Villa are interested.
The striker is also wanted by Valencia, after a strong season where he scored 13 goals in La Liga for Celta.
“I have been called from Spain by Maxi Gómez, there is interest from Valencia and Aston Villa,” Castillo revealed to Sport 890.
If Villa really are interested in Gomez then it would be a huge statement of intent from Dean Smith’s side.
Gomez is considered to be one of the brightest young strikers in Spain and at 22 still has plenty of room to develop.

Gomez possesses a lot of power and a clinical finish, and dealing with the physicality of the Premier League should be no issue to him.
Intriguingly Villa scout Juanfran has just gone public in Marca with his admiration for Gomez.
