West Ham United have been chasing Maxi Gomez, who has just been linked with Aston Villa.

West Ham United would have to be embarrassed if Aston Villa do manage to complete a deal for Maxi Gomez.
However, the Hammers have not been able to get a deal done, and Aston Villa are now interested.
Defensor Sporting Club chief Ney Castillo has told the Tiempo de Fútbol on Sport 890, broadcast 6th June, that he’s heard Villa want to sign Gomez from Celta Vigo.
If West Ham were to lose out to a newly promoted club it would surely leave supporters at the London Stadium asking questions.

Villa may be financially strong, but West Ham have ambitions of breaking into the top seven.
If they are missing out on targets to Villa then their European hopes can only be seen as a pipe-dream.
And if Gomez does end up at Villa it could leave West Ham’s board red-faced.
