Former Ibrox striker Marcus Gayle has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that he wants Joe Aribo to join Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers.

Aribo is a player in demand, with Rangers and their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic among the clubs reportedly interested in the Charlton Athletic midfielder.

According to The Independent, Rangers and Celtic want to secure the services of the 22-year-old midfielder this summer.

The youngster is out of contract at the Addicks this summer and is available on a free transfer.

Gayle played for Rangers back in 2001, and he also managed Aribo at Staines Town, and he has suggested that he would prefer Aribo to join Rangers this summer.

Gayle told The Glasgow Evening Times: “Personally, I would like to see him play for Rangers.

“That is just my take, but I think he would learn so much from Steven Gerrard and the players that he is looking to bring in. That would really give him a platform to push on again and get even better.”

Promising midfielder

Aribo is a very good and talented young midfielder who was instrumental in Charlton clinching promotion from League One to the Championship via the playoffs this season.

Both Rangers and Celtic could do with a player like Aribo, and it will be interesting to see where the midfielder ends up next season.
