Leeds United fans have suggested on Twitter that Kalvin Phillips should be called up to the England team, and that he is better than West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice.
Rice, who can also operate as a central defender, started the match and played for 105 minutes.
The 20-year-old is a very good and promising young midfielder and is one of the best players in the Premier League, but he did not have a good game against the Netherlands.
Rice failed to impose himself on the match, and some Leeds fans were not impressed with him and have called on Twitter for Phillips to be given a chance for England.
The 23-year-old is one of the best central midfielders in the Championship and can also operate as a central defender.
According to WhoScored, the Englishman made 44 appearances in the Championship for Leeds during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.
Sooner rather than later it needs to be Kalvin Phillips at holding mid and Harry Winks & Phil Foden dictating play just in front. Declan Rice, James Maddison & Mason Mount as options too. We need to stop relying on midfielders like Dier & Delph - hard workers but not much else!— Shaun (@LUFC19921) June 7, 2019
Kalvin Phillips is so much better than Declan Rice, try change my mind.— Ben (@BenLUFC_MCU) June 7, 2019

England trying to play the right way but it's easier to teach footballers to defend than it is to teach defenders to play football. You know who says that don't you #lufc England have a Kalvin Phillips shaped hole. I like Henderson. Maguire gets most things right.— Dr. Al-T (@DoctorT1992) June 6, 2019
Is Declan Rice better then Kalvin Phillips? I don’t think he is. The difference is one plays in the Premier League.— James (@JamesLUFC) June 6, 2019
