Jay Rodriguez could reportedly be heading back to the Premier League with Sheffield United after scoring 22 Championship goals with WBA.

Sheffield United are eyeing West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez as they prepare for a return to the Premier League, according to the Mirror.

The Blades sealed their place in the top flight after a 12-year absence in May and Chris Wilder appears to have placed a prolific striker at the top of his wish list.

The Mirror, however, claims that he has been priced out of deals for Brentford talisman Neal Maupay and Swansea City’s Scotland international Oli McBurnie, who are valued at £20 million and £12 million respectively.

Wilder only has £20 million to spend this summer and Rodriguez looks far better value for money.

After West Brom fell in the play-offs at the semi-final stage, the former England international suddenly became available for just £5 million thanks to a bargain release-clause inserted into his contact.

And Wilder reportedly believes that Rodriguez represents ‘great value’ at that price, having plundered 22 goals for the Baggies in 2018/19.

Sheffield United will face plenty of competition with the Telegraph reporting earlier this week that Leicester City and Bournemouth are keen while Burnley are also hoping to bring their one-time academy graduate back to Turf Moor.
