Departing West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has taken to Twitter to post an emotional farewell message to the club's fanbase after the Hammers confirmed late last month that his contract would not be renewed.
The Spaniard arrived in East London on a free transfer from Spanish club Real Betis in July 2013 and made 150 first-team appearances in all competitions, twice finishing as runner up in the Hammer of the Year award competition (official club website).
Adrian is a fan favourite at West Ham due to his attitude and work ethic while at the club and was part of some memorable moments, not least the final season at the Boleyn Ground when the Hammers secured a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
Here is what the 32-year-old wrote on social media:
And here is how some of the Irons fanbase reacted to his emotional message:
No Adrian. Thank YOU ❤️⚒— Billy (@WHUFCBilly) 5 June 2019
One of the best farewell letters that I've seen from a player leaving. Good luck @AdriSanMiguel— Keith Champion (@champs1uk) 5 June 2019

Thank you for everything. You were a great player, with a great attitude, and always with a smile on your face. Good luck wherever you go next, they will be a lucky team. #graciasadrian— Julian Shea (@juliansheasport) 5 June 2019
If you're ever back in east London, the pie and mash is on me.— Dave Rice (@ricey63) 5 June 2019
You sir are a gentleman.
Some players come & go & are forgotten instantly. You however will be remembered as a player that embodied everything that it is to be a proper Hammer. You put everything in for the badge on the front of the shirt & now we'll always remember your name on the back of it. ⚒️— ⚒️Peter Butler's Ferret⚒️ (@RightWingWizard) 5 June 2019
Love you @AdriSanMiguel - you will be missed so much! Your penalty against Everton was one of the best things I ever saw at the Boleyn - the glove throw was classic! Good luck for the future. COYI ⚒⚒⚒⚒— Lily Harris (@lilyfharris) 5 June 2019
From seeing you in your first game at a pre-season freindly 6 years ago, to singing your name at the final whistle at Watford away is been a emotional journey. Good luck @AdriSanMiguel for the future. Once a hammer always a hammer. ⚒♥️⚒♥️— Kristian Jones (@stuttanutta) 5 June 2019
