Tottenham Hotspur have a big summer transfer window ahead of them after their Champions League final defeat.
Jamie O’Hara has stated that he would ‘cash in’ on Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier this summer and then sign a ‘£50m’ replacement.
Right-back Aurier has played a bit-part role for Tottenham this season despite the man in front of him, Kieran Trippier struggling with form.
The Ivory Coast international was on the bench for Spurs as they were beaten in the Champions League final against Liverpool over the weekend.
Speaking to the Final Word on TalkSport (02/06/2019 at 5:50 pm), former Premier League midfielder O’Hara stated what he’d do at Spurs during the summer transfer window.
“They need to sign a right-back,” O’Hara told TalkSport. “I would cash in on Aurier then I would get someone to compete with Trippier because I think he has had an off-season but he has a fantastic talent.
“I’ve been saying [Tottenham need to spend] £100 million [this summer], but what does £100 million get you these days? £50 million on a fullback.
“They need to sign another midfield player and they need to sign a centre-forward because Harry Kane does get injured quite often and Llorente is not good enough to step up to the plate.”
Aurier signed for Tottenham during the summer transfer window of 2017 when he made a £23 million switch from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain [BBC Sport].
He hasn’t been an absolute regular under Pochettino, but given how loyal the highly-rated coach can be, it won’t be a surprise if he were to be a key player for the club in years to come.
Moussa Sissoko’s rise this season is proof that anyone within that Tottenham set-up can change their ways and rocket up the list of how important they are to the team.
