Newcastle United could be set to sign Kyle Scott when his contract at Chelsea expires at the end of this month, according to the Sun.
A Bath-born midfielder is expected to be on the move this summer after failing to break into the Chelsea first-team during an 11-year stay in West London.
Scott, who has represented England, the Republic of Ireland and the United States at youth level, has played just once for the Blues – coming off the bench in a 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Hull City in February 2018.
According to the Sun, the 21-year-old could be on his way to Newcastle when he becomes a free agent with Magpies boss Rafa Benitez ready to take a chance on a versatile and technically gifted central midfielder.
The report adds that Scott too is interested in a move to St James’ Park as he looks to kick-start a career which has stalled at Stamford Bridge.
The youngster played 14 games on loan at Dutch second division side Telstar last season but he will be desperate to finally prove himself in the Premier League.
He could get that chance at Newcastle, who are expected to lose both Isaac Hayden and Mo Diame over the summer.
