Newcastle United reportedly want to keep Joe Bryan in the Premier League and Fulham could turn to Southampton for his replacement?

Fulham are keen to sign Southampton left-back Matt Targett this summer, according to Sky Sports, and not for the first time.

The 23-year-old remains immensely popular at Craven Cottage after playing a major role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2017/18.

Tagett joined Fulham on loan for the second half of that season and shone, making 21 appearances under Slavisa Jokanovic as the West London outfit eventually beat Aston Villa in the Wembley play-off final.

Fulham did try to sign Targett on a permanent basis a year ago but, after failing with a £5 million bid, turned their attention to Joe Bryan instead.

But Sky Sports claims that a deal could be revived 12 months on with a team now coached by Scott Parker preparing for life back in the Championship.

Southampton, however, will only accept a ‘significant’ offer for a player who is still expected to be a key part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans.

This could increase speculation that Bryan might be on his way out of Craven Cottage after just one season. The Northern Echo reports that the former Bristol City favourite is a target for Newcastle United.
