Some Cardiff City supporters think the Bluebirds should sell Neil Etheridge to Aston Villa.

The Express & Star reports that Aston Villa are considering an improved offer for Etheridge, after seeing an £8 million approach rejected by Cardiff.

The Philippino goalkeeper was one of the Welsh club's stand-out performers in what was his maiden Premier League campaign, but another season of Championship football awaits if he stays where he is.

And with their side set to make a significant profit on a player they signed for free two years ago, while also having a ready-made replacement on board in the shape of Alex Smithies, the following Cardiff fans wouldn't begrudge Etheridge a move.

Joining Aston Villa would see Etheridge reunited with the manager, Dean Smith, and goalkeeper coach, Neil Cutler, he worked with at Walsall.

The 29-year-old previously credited Cutler with "taking his game to another level".
