Keen to listen to the What We Do in the Shadows theme song? Well, here it is.

If you’ve been enjoying What We Do in the Shadows then you’ve probably had that terrific theme song stuck in your head for some time now. TV themes are often really important; they can set the tone, and after all, it would get a little repetitive if it didn’t compliment the show. Fortunately, this one does.

The ten-episode series was written by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), both of which can be considered modern comedy greats. They worked together on the film Eagle vs Shark and other projects, so they’re certainly no strangers.

As anticipated, the series has gone down a treat, but who does the theme song?

What We Do in the Shadows theme song

As you would have been immediately aware, it’s not exactly a track making its rounds through radio play.

The song is called “You’re Dead” by Norma Tanega. She was well known in the sixties for the hit single “Walkin’ My Cat Named Dog” end even wrote songs for Dusty Springfield.

It’s a brilliant song and works well with the series; also, it’s currently available to stream on Spotify.

Why is it so familiar?

Remember the 2014 Waititi film of the same name? Of course, you do!

Essentially, the film was such a fan phenomenon that some immediately anticipated a TV series. Sure, it has a different cast, but there’s very little difference – it’s just as hilarious and inventive.

That’s not where the crossover ends though. If you recognised “You’re Dead”, it may be because it was also used in the opening credits to the film.

Will we hear it again?

Essentially, we’re asking whether there will be another season.

Fortunately, the answer is yes. According to the series’ Wikipedia page, FX renewed What We Do in the Shadows for yet another ten-episodes. We can expect them to arrive in 2020.
