Trippier came up against Sadio Mane on the night and inside the first minute, he had the Spurs man on the back foot when he got in behind the defender, attempted to cross/chip the ball into the penalty area which ended up hitting the arm of Moussa Sissoko.
The referee awarded a penalty for that incident and Mo Salah converted the spot kick as Mauricio Pochettino's side struggled to get a grip of the game.
Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (02/06/2019 at 7:15 am), former Republic of Ireland international Cascarino was once again critical of Trippier.
"I would give Kane a bit of defence because Eriksen behind him didn't do too much and Dele Alli couldn't find the space to make the difference in certain areas of the pitch," Cascarino told TalkSport. "So them players struggled.
"I said [before the game] Mane against Trippier. I don't think Trippier should have been right-back in a four. The first goal for the pen, inside two minutes, Mane's done exactly what Trippier's worst point of defending is. He's got in behind him - Okay, penalties are given so easily these days."
Less than 12 months ago, Trippier was the star of the show for England as he helped Gareth Southgate's side to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.
But since that tournament, his performances for his club side have gone the wrong way and he now finds himself outside of the England set-up.
The Three Lions will be preparing for their Nations League tournament this month and Trippier won't be a part of that squad as Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold are ahead of him in the pecking order.
